Follow-Up:

You know Bill, it really amazes me how people can adopt such a narrow attitude regarding the Rialta. I have had our unit since Sept. 01 and the only problem was a squeak in the rear springs area. I took it to my Winnie dealer and before I could finish describing my reason for being there they had identified the problem and had it corrected in 30 min's under warranty. I have been monitoring a website with almost 400 members, most of which own a Rialta or are considering one. There is no doubt there is a shortage of reliable VW dealers who will attempt to work on them. However, the ones that do are just as competent as any other dealer who services Ford's and Chevy's. As a matter of fact, I currently own 4 Chevy's and with the exception of my 1998 Corvette, I have had a great deal of problems especially with the S-10 and the Blazer. To a lesser extent the Z-28 has had a few as well. It will be a long time before I buy another Chevy. No one can advise you 100% that a particular unit is best for you. All factors must be weighed. The manner in which you plan to operate the unit, cost, size, reliable dealers in your immediate area, etc. Every owner I have spoken to has indicated their concern over the Rialta at some time or the other but decided to go forward with their purchase. Are they 100% satisfied...no, but are they realistic in their expectations...yes. I am not handy at all, whether it is with the house portion or the mechanical. I am definitely at the mercy of both dealers. I can assure you that if I have a problem I will find someone to fix it. If I had to worry about that cost I had no business buying an RV in the first place. In the meantime, after 7000 miles I keep finding reasons why I'm glad I bought ours. We are planning a summer trip that will take us about 4000 miles from Florida to NY and all points in between. If we have problems that can't be fixed we will trade it for something else. I just don't anticipate that happening now or on our trip. All of the units you mentioned have their positives and I guarantee you some negatives. Only you can decide what's best for you.
