Follow-Up:
The 2002 model was the first year for the 201HP engine. The main reason they don't like to work on them is because many of the VW dealers do not have the proper lift for the Rialta. Before 2002, they also did not like having to drop the protective pan just to change the oil. Recently, they sent out a template that gives the instructions on how to cut out the space like the 2002 has that will simplify the oil change. Other than that, the dealers have no real reason not to work on the VW portion of the Rialta. They don't seem to do a real good job inventoring specialty parts either.
