I bought my 1996 Rialta used with 24K miles and an extended warrenty. The experience with VW service has been much the same as all of those who have posted. We have located a local VW dealer - but they are not the same since their manager went to work directly for VW. The only problem that has be recurring, serious, and unresolved is with the Generac generator. I have had major repairs twice (extended warrenty has been great!). It will run for one usage and then quit. Since I live in the south I expect it is a heat build up with lack of air circulation for a unit that has alot of platic parts. In other words a design flaw. While the generator was a major reason for going to a motor home (we travel with a pair of Great Danes) and is a constant source of irritation, the Rialta is providing us a great deal of joy and relaxation. In December it took us through the Smokies in ice and snow. No problem, no power issues (and ours is the old 5 cyl. version). I would buy another - but NOT with a Generac.
