Follow-Up:
I just got a call back this PM from Continental/General Customer Service in Charlotte, NC. The info the local General Tire Dealer (Sears) gave me was incorrect. The Vanco-8 is still being manufactured but was on nationwide back order. They just received a shipment this morning (Aug7th) in Charlotte. I went back to Sears and gave them the Name and number of the Continental Customer Service Rep and in about 15 minutes my tires were on order. $103.00 plus tax, balancing, road hazzard. They will be here in three days.
