yes i had a custom roof rack installed on my 98 it was designed to carry ladders and it works great!!!! i was made of round stock aluminum and attached at four points using 6x6 flat aluminum plate. we used 1-1/2 carriage bolts with flat washers so right through the roof they are hardly noticable fron the inside and the rack can also be used for luggage.
