Follow-Up:
I Also have a 2002 with less than 4000 miles. My first 3 tanks of fuel were 87 octane and it ran great and got 15 mpg in town and 19 mpg on the highway (75 MPH) I have started using 93 octane but have not checked the milage yet. I have always been under the assumption that if your vehicle ran good on the lesser octane ten it was all right to use. After reading the service manual that engine damage could occur, I guess its best to pay the additional money for the 93 octane. If the milage improves it may be an off set.
