My parents, each pushing 70 years of age, bought a 2001 or 2002 Rialta about 6 months ago. This past Thanksgiving, they both went to visit my brother in Phoenix, they reside in the San Francisco east bay area. The Saturday following Thanksgiving, they hadn't been on the road for more than 20 or 30 miles, when, at 70 mph, they lost the entire passenger-side rear wheel assembly causing about $7K in damage to the undercarriage. Their insurance company won't touch it be cause they say it's a manufacturer defect issue, which I tend to agree with, but at least they returned my parents phone calls. They have tried contacting VW customer care; I frankly don't know which phone numbers my mom has tried, but in each case, nobody has bothered to return her calls. She is to the point of considering legal action when I came across your story on the Internet in trying to find some hope for them as they spent a considerable sum on their warranty. Does anyone have a list of dealers in the US that perform warranty work on Rialta's..? Also, if anyone can provide any contact numbers that may provide some sort of guidance, it would be very much appreciated. I hate to see my folks go through this at their age when the reason they bought the motor home was to do some traveling. Thanks for ANY info.
