I also had rear leaf spring problems with my 2000 rialta, they caused excessive tire wear after about 30,000 miles in less than a year, after bouncing around from dealer to vw place to dealer, they were replaced by Winnebago, but they did not cover the worn out tires that were worn to the steel belt in a couple of places. I'm pretty sure that Winnie is aware that they have a problem here, and the rear axle could also be a problem area. Winnebago should send out recall letters to have their dealers take a look at these areas, but I haven't got mine yet! Good Luck
