Follow-Up:

Jeri, I had the same problem with my 97QD, VR6, 54,000 mi. A fellow on one of the other sites paid $100 to find out that the Throttle Body was "gummed up" with oil residue. The PVC valve vents into the air duct passage just before the throttle body. So I got some "Gumout Carb Choke Cleaner" Stock No. 7450, $2.31. This stuff will not damage the oxygen sensor or catalytic converter (is says on the can). Take the air duct off of the Throttle Body air input and give it some SHORT SQUIRTS all around the inside of the opening. Clean it good but don't spray to much at once as the ENGINE WILL STALL. I started the engine up a few times after the cleaning and the light went out and has stayed out since I did the cleaning. So this will be a maintenance item for me to be done every other oil change or so. This may not fix your problem but it can't hurt. This might be a maintenance item that every one else might try. I would be courious to see if it might "put other peoples 'check engine light' out." Hope that this fixes your problem and saves you some money. John
