Follow-Up:
Mine was just shattered this weekend at little under 15,000 miles. First was the primary when I was climing the mountain up to Mammoth Lake. The shattered pieces knocked off the connection to A/C fan and caused the engine to overheat really quick. After pull to the side of road and waited 2 hours to cool off engine, was I able to reach my hand down to reconnect the secondary fan connection and got that going. After arrival to the lodge, the secondary fan (A/C) shattered as well and I was out of luck. Just returned back from Mammoth driving thru the nite since 1 a.m. in order to stay cool for the engine. Luckily, I made it back. Going to see a VW mechanic next week to see how to get replacement fans. Perhaps they make them in metals instead of these plastics?
